Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: F3 & C5 (Heart & Root Chakras)

Weight: 906 grams (2 lb 0oz).  Size: 18 x 9.5 cm (7 x 3 ¾ inches)

This is a rare early 19th Century high-wall Lingam Singing Bowl.  It has a finely forged walls, a sheered lip, and several decorative bands encircling the outer rim and below.   It has a large Lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two sets of decorative circles, and there is a matching yoni or navel underneath.

There are a series of magical or ritual gashes encircling the outer rim at intervals; a feature more commonly found on Thadobati bowls and seldom seen on Lingams.

The fundamental note is a third octave F3 (179Hz) when struck with a padded mallet.  The same F3 note is beautifully accompanied by a fifth octave C5 (510Hz) harmonic when played around the rim with a suede ringer.

It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with an antique bronze colour and aged patina.

An interesting and rare high-wall Lingam bowl Singing Bowl!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: ( 3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede ringer then wood).
