This is a superior quality large antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with a grooved lip and multiple decorative lines encircling the outer rim.  It has seen a lot of use during its lifetime, leading to sensually smooth walls inside and out, and the wearing down of the circles at its centre.

The fundamental note is a perfect pitch third octave E3 (165/6Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a nice fifth octave Bb5 (916/8Hz) with a wooden ringer.  It is a responsive bowl and easy to play.

It is in good structural condition, clean and stain-free, with a nice golden bronze colour.  However, there is a barely-noticeable tiny crack along the inner rim, well away from the playing edge, that has no impact on the sound quality, and this cosmetic issue is reflected in the price.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
