Antique Elephant Phurba or Shaman’s Ritual Dagger

This is a very unusual and highly collectable antique carved wood shaman’s phurba or ritual dagger from Nepal. 

The hilt features a standing elephant with a snake wrapped around its feet, below which is an elephant Makara leading to a three-sided blade decorated with carved animals...a woodpecker, fish, tortoise, and two pairs of entwined snakes.

The tip of this interesting power object has been wrapped in metal to protect the point when it is ritually thrust into the ground.  It is in excellent museum quality condition and has the patina of long use and antiquity.

A fabulous, rare and unusual example of a shaman phurba used for transformation, healing and protection.
