Timor Nude Male Ancestor Figure

This is a superbly carved nude male ancestor figure (circa 19th century) sitting on his haunches and clutching his hands to his chest.  It was collected in Timor, Indonesia, in the 1980s.  It is carved in a local hardwood and in excellent condition.  It also has a lovely aged patina and a well-used look and feel.

This little carving is very sculptural, full of character, and wonderfully expressive.  It looks interesting from any angle...a very special piece!
