Rare Tibetan Bell-Shaped Singing Bowl – Beautiful B3 Voice

Availability: In Stock
Price: £0.00

Antique Bell-Shaped Tibetan Singing Bowl.  B Note (Crown Chakra)
Weight 2 lb 3 ¾ oz (1.01 Kilos).   18 x 9 cm (approx. 7 x 3 ½ inches)

Rare Tibetan Thadobati Singing BowlThis is a large bell-shaped Thadobati Singing Bowl of a type rarely seen these days (circa 18th Century) with very thick slightly splayed walls and a sloping grooved lip.  It is very nicely decorated with three pairs of incised lines at regular intervals around the upper half of the external wall, and a series of concentric circles on the inside floor.  The condition of this characterful old bowl is excellent.  It has the patina, colour, and look and feel of antiquity.

However, this bowl is distinguished as much for its voice as its physical character.  Indeed, it has one of the most beautiful voices imaginable…a lovely 3rd octave B with a rare and resonant purity.  This bowl is very responsive and easy to play, and the note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.

A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (2 struck notes and 1 played note)
