Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl – Rare A Note

Availability: In Stock

Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl.  A Note (Third Eye Chakra)
Weight 1 lb  8 ¼ oz. (692g).   14 5 x 7 cm (approx. 5 ¾ x 2 ¾ inches)

This is a characterful and older medium size Thadobati singing bowl with an interesting mid octave A fundamental note with a Bb4 harmonic.  It’s slightly temperamental and prefers to be played around the rim slowly with a hard wooden ringer rather than suede.  Old bowls with an A note fundamental are hard to come by nowadays, and the sound of this one is rather nice.

This is an older bowl with bags of character.  It has straight sides, a flat bottom, and is much thicker than normal, with rather lumpy walls that reflect the difficulty craftsmen had in forging heavier bowls.  It has a grooved lip with a simple decorative dot band around the outer rim, and several concentric circles at its centre.  The condition is very nice for its age…it looks every inch the antique singing bowl it is!  A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.

Listen: (1 struck and 1 played note)
