Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. C4/B3 & F#5 (Root, Crown & Heart Chakras)

Weight 621 grams (1 lb 5 oz). Size 17.5 x 7.5 cm (6 ¾ x 3 inches)

This is a very pretty 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl with an interesting fundamental that flickers between a middle C4 (262Hz) and a third octave B3 (253Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave Fz35 (735Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This antique bowl has a rare and really lovely shape with its low profile, curved wall, and rounded bottom. It has a slightly flanged lip with a decorative band encircling the outer rim.  There is a neat golden nipple-like lingam at its centre surrounded by circles, and a matching navel underneath.

It is in excellent structural condition and has a fabulous colour and aged patina.  It is sensually smooth to the touch and a pleasure to hold and play, and has the look and feel of great antiquity.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
