Antique Manipuri Lingam Singing Bowl.  Notes: Bb3 & E5 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 846 grams (1 lb 13 oz).   Size 20.5 x 7 cm (8 ¼ x 2 ¾ inches)

This is a rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl with the shallow Manipuri form.  It has quite thick hammered walls, a superb grooved lip, and boldly incised multiple decorative bands around the outer rim.  There’s a very nice lingam at its centre surrounded by two sets of circles, and a deep navel or yoni underneath.

The fundamental note is a perfect pitch third octave Bb (233Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a powerful fifth octave E5 (665Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This rare antique Manipuri Lingam bowl is structurally sound and has an attractive aged patina.  Antique Lingam Singing Bowls are extremely rare, and those with the Manipuri form even more so.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (3 struck notes and 1 played note with a wooden ringer)
