Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Note: B3 (Crown Chakra)

Weight 1.70 kilos (3 lb 12 oz).  Size 26 x 11.5 cm (10 ¼ x 4 ½ inches)

This superior quality early 19th century Jambati Singing Bowl has a wonderful low third octave B3 (240-244Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a ringer.

It has a finely forged curved wall with an unusually rounded bottom, and its wide and boldly-grooved triangulated lip are stand-out features.  There are deeply incised decorative bands around the outer rim and circles at its centre.

It is in good structural condition, clean and stain-free but with some minor surface pitting commensurate with its age.  This antique singing bowl is sensually smooth to the touch, attractively different, and a pleasure to play.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede ringer then wood).
