Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Notes: A3 & Eb5 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 921 grams (2 lb 0 ½ oz).   Size 20.5 x 7 cm (8 x 2 ¾ inches)

This unusual antique Lingam Singing Bowl combines the rare lingam form with that of the shallow Manipuri form, and benefits from a boldly incised inscription on the outer wall; a fair indication of the high esteem in which a previous keeper held this bowl.

The fundamental note is a third octave A3 (225Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a flickering Eb5 and E5 (639 to 642Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This is a top quality well-proportioned antique bowl with a shallow profile, thick even walls, and a level grooved lip with decorative lines encircling the rim.  There is a large lingam at its centre surrounded by two sets of circles, and a deep navel or yoni underneath.

It is in excellent structural and unblemished condition, but with some surface green copper oxidization that could readily be removed if required (I rather like it).

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
