Antique Tibetan Lingam Singing Bowl. G note (Throat Chakra)
Weight 2 lb 9 oz (1.16 kilos). 21 x 7.5 cm (approx. 8 ¼ x 3 inches)
This is a large and characterful Lingam bowl with an exceptionally nice virtually concert pitch fundamental note, a strong G sharp. The struck note is very sweet and it’s an easy bowl to play around the rim. The note is the same G sharp whether struck or played with a ringer.
This bowl is in good condition for its age and has a strong physical presense. It has an excellent pronounced inward-facing and boldly ribbed rim, and a nice pointed lingam that is defined and surrounded by engraved circles. The exterior walls are smooth at the rim and attractively hammer-marked lower down and underneath. The bottom is flat, with no navel.
An older Lingam bowl, probably 19th century, with bags of character and the look and feel of age!
Listen (2 struck notes and 2 played notes with suede and wooden ringers)
