Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  F#4/G4 (Heart & Throat Chakras)

Weight 654 grams (1 lb 7 oz).   15 x 7.5 cm (6 x 3 inches)

This recently sourced rare 19th century Lingam Singing Bowl is in its ‘as found’ condition but would readily clean up to a golden bronze if desired.

The fundamental note is a middle (4th) octave F# (377Hz) if struck with a padded drumstick or played around the rim with a suede or wooden ringer, but the rim note will also move to a middle G (382Hz) if desired.  Interestingly the fundamental note becomes a high sixth octave C (1054Hz) if the bowl is struck with a hard wooden ringer.

This is a well-proportioned Thadobati-shaped bowl with thick walls, a grooved lip and a pronounced central Lingam with a matching navel underneath.  There is a decorative border of dots around the outer rim.

This bowl is in excellent structural condition with a rich patina from years of handling, and has the look and feel of antiquity.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (3 struck notes and 1 played note)
