Majestic 13 ½” Antique Jambati Singing Bowl – Low Concert Pitch Eb2 & Om
Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Note Eb2 (Solar Plexus Chakra)
3.06 kilos (6 lb 12 oz). 34 x 13.5 cm (13 ½ x 5 ¼ inches)
This majestic antique singing bowl has a diameter of 13 ½ inches, weighs 3.06 kilos, and is one of the largest in my collection. Antique Jambati bowls approaching anything like this size are extremely rare and sought after for their beautiful and incredible low resonant, pulsating, and loud voices.
This large bowl has a low pulsating perfect pitch second octave Eb2 fundamental (78.5Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim. Its vibrant energy is such that it will readily produce a low OM with a heavy suede ringer. This is a heavy bowl that is best placed on a cushion for playing, and will therefore be supplied with a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion.
This impressive singing bowl is believed to date from the early 20th century and has an honest simplicity of form. There is a faint circle at its centre. The contrasting hammer markings on the outer wall are an attractive feature, but it is without any decorative artwork. It is clean and stain-free, and structurally sound with a lovely bright golden bronze colour inside and out.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a ringer are all included in the price.
Listen: ( 3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede ringer then wood)
