Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: F#4 & C6 (Heart & Root Chakras)

Weight: 551 grams (1 lb 3oz).  Size: 14.5 x 7 cm (5 ¾ x 2 ¾ inches)

This is a lovely small 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl with a sheered lip and tiny decorative dots encircling the outer rim.  The neat lingam at its centre is surrounded by decorative circles, and there is a matching yoni or navel underneath.

On close examination there is evidence of faint ritual or magical gashes around its belly, and there are some inclusions around the navel underneath.  Inclusions are dust or grits in the molten metal mixture of copper and tin, and bear witness to the primitive conditions under which the bowl was forged.  They manifest as tiny raised pimples on the surface.

The fundamental note is a middle octave F#4 (366/7Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a high C6 (1038Hz) with a wooden ringer.

It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with an aged patina and antique bronze colour.

An interesting small Lingam bowl that fits comfortably in the palm of the hand for playing.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
