Characterful Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl – F#3 – Ritual Gashes

Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl.   Note: F#3 (Heart Chakra)

Weight 2 lb 0 oz. (904 grams).   Size 18.5 x 9.5 cm (7 ¼ x 3 ¾ inches)

This antique singing bowl is typical of the Thadobati form with its sheered lip, fairly straight walls, and flat bottom.  It’s an older bowl that has seen a lot of use and the circles that once decorated the inside floor have been worn away over time.

On the other hand the interesting ritual gashes encircling the outer rim are well preserved, and the bowl is attractive, clean and structurally sound.

Th fundamental note is a third octave F# (187Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.   The rim note changes to a fifth octave C (531Hz) with a wooden ringer.

A Tibetan silk brocade cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (2 struck notes and 1 played note)
