Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl.   Note: E4 (337Hz) Solar Plexus

Weight 3 lb 1 ¾ oz. (1.41 kilos).   Size 19 x 9.5 cm (7 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)

This fabulous large old Thadobati bowl with its extra thick walls would have been a challenge to forge. It is a perfect example of this bowl type with its grooved lip, straight wall and flat bottom, and there are decorative circles at its centre, around the inner and outer rim, and encircling the belly.

The fundamental note is a nice middle E (337Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede or wooden ringer, although with practice it’s possible to push the E4 towards an F4 (340Hz) if desired.

This is an older bowl, and some of the circles at its centre have been worn away with the passage of time, but it otherwise in excellent structural condition, with the look and feel of antiquity. A very nice bowl indeed!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, and a ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (5 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede then wood ringer)
