Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G#4 & Eb5 (Throat & Solar Plexus Chakras)

Weight 172 grams (0 lb 6.7 oz).  Size 10.5 x 4 cm (4 ½ x 1 ½ inches)

This tiny antique Lingam Singing Bowl is an absolute gem, and a personal favourite that has spent decades in my own house shrine.  It is the smallest antique Lingam that I have encountered in over 40 years of collecting, and will no doubt be snapped up quickly by a collector of rare small bowls.

This bowl has been superbly crafted.  It has the finest of shallow hand-beaten walls that would have been extremely difficult to forge.  The neat lingam at its centre is surrounded by decorative circles, and it has a matching navel or yoni underneath. A pair of incised lines form a decorative collar around the outer rim.

This tiny bowl is extremely responsive and easy to play, and unlike some small bowls, rarely rotates in the hand.  It has two excellent voices.  The fundamental note is a perfect pitch middle octave G#4 (414-16Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a penetrating sixth octave Eb6 (1216Hz) with a wooden ringer.

It is in fabulous structural condition and free of stains and blemishes.

Don’t hesitate to buy it if you are interested…it won’t be here long!

A selection of small ringers are included in the price.

Listen: (4 struck notes and 1 played note with a wooden ringer).
