Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Notes: Bb2 & E5 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 1.68 kilos (3 lb 11 oz).   Size 29.5 x 7.5 cm (11 ¾ x 3 inches)

This is without doubt the rarest and most valuable antique singing bowl in my entire collection.  I believe it to be utterly unique, and the buyer can rest assured that they will never encounter another lingam like it in their lifetime.

This incredible Lingam Singing Bowl is believed to date from the 17th or 18th century.  Its low-profile shallow form is of a type associated with the preparation of shamanic medicines, ritual or ceremonial occasions, and healing.

The fundamental note is a very low, almost gong-like, second octave Bb2 (114Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, and the rim note is a fabulous powerful and penetrating fifth octave E5 (671Hz) when played with a wooden ringer.

At 11 ¾ inches it has the widest diameter of any Lingam bowl I have encountered in over 35 years and dozens of trips to the Himalayas in search of the rarest specimens.  Antique Lingam Singing Bowls are the rarest and most sought-after of all Himalayan bowls, and typically have diameters of between 5 and 7 inches.

It has been superbly crafted.  Its hand-forged hammered walls and grooved lip are regular and even.  It features a truly beautiful large lingam surrounded and defined by circles, with another set of circles some distance away.  There is a matching navel or yoni underneath.

This wonderful Lingam also benefits from an inscription on the outer wall: a certain indication of the importance and high esteem in which it was held by a former keeper.  Very few bowls carry inscriptions.

It is in exceptional, virtually perfect, structural condition, and free of stains and blemishes.  It has a fabulous aged patina and the look and feel of great antiquity.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire an incredible and utterly unique antique Lingam bowl that would be the ultimate star in any collection or therapeutic practice.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
