Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes E3 & Bb4 (Solar Plexus & Crown Chakras)

Weight 1.2 kilos (2 lb 10 ½ oz).  Size 20.5 x 10.5 cm (8 x 4 ¼ inches)

This is a large and particularly beautiful 19th century Lingam Singing Bowl with a golden bronze colour and a myriad of tiny hammer marks encircling its wall that reflect the light and add surface interest.

The fundamental note is a powerful third octave E3 (162Hz) with a long pulsating sustain when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a middle Bb4 (473Hz) with a wooden ringer, sometimes accompanied by the E3 and/or A5 (904Hz) harmonic.

This lingam bowl takes the Thadobati form and has a gently curved high-sided wall, sheered lip and flat bottom.  There is a large pointed lingam surrounded by circles at its centre, a deep navel or yoni underneath, and two decorative bands of tiny cuts encircling the outer rim.

This stunning bowl is structurally perfect and would stand out in any collection.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and two ringers are included in the price.
