Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Note G#4 (Throat Chakra)

Weight 1.04 kilos (2 lb 4 ½ oz).  Size 16 x 7.5 cm (6 ¼ x 3 inches)

This rare antique Lingam Singing Bowl has well-defined features and an excellent singing voice. The fundamental note is a middle G# (406-407Hz) when struck or played around the rim. It is very responsive and easy to play.

This old Lingam bowl takes the Thadobati form. It has exceptionally thick walls, is heavy for its size, and would have been a challenge to forge. It has a pronounced but slightly irregular lingam at its centre, surrounded by two sets of concentric circles, and there is a neat navel underneath. The lip is deeply grooved and several incised bands form a decorative collar around the outer rim.

This weighty Lingam bowl has a lot of character and a particularly beautiful deep golden bronze colour. It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with the patina of age.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
