Rare Antique Set of 3 Singing Bowls.   Notes A2. F3, F#3

Total Weight 1 lb 12 ¾ oz. (818 grams).   Diameters 5, 4 ½ and 7 ¾ inches

This is an extremely rare set of 3 recently sourced antique shaman ceremonial singing bowls from the far west of Nepal. They are believed to date from the 17th century. Whilst they may not be part of an original set they were in fact sourced together and are stylistically identical. I therefore felt it best to keep them together.

These hand-beaten shallow and fine-walled bowls have flat bottoms and feature a large raised mound in the centre with a matching depression underneath. They are in remarkably good condition for their age, clean and stain free, and have an attractive dark golden bronze colour with the patina of age. They look and feel like the sacred objects they are.

Bowl 1: A2 (107Hz) struck and C#4 (274Hz) rim. 400 grams. 17.5 x 5 cm (7 ¾ x 2 inches)

Bowl 2: F3 (174Hz) struck and Bb4 (464Hz) rim. 170 grams. 13.5 x 4 cm (5 ½ x 1 ½ inches)

Bowl 3: F#3 (180Hz) struck and Bb4 (468Hz) rim. 148 grams. 13 x 3.5 cm (5 x 1 ¼ inches)

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and 3 ringers are included in the price.
