Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes F2 & G5 (Heart & Throat Chakras)

Weight 1.51 kilos (3 lb 5 ¾ oz). Size 26 x 11 cm (10 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches)

This large 2nd octave antique Jambati Singing Bowl has unusually finely beaten walls and is therefore light for its size.  Most low octave bowls tend to be very large and rather heavy to hold.  Weighing just 1.51 kilos this bowl is an exception that is comfortable to hold and play for an extended period.

The fundamental note is a low concert pitch second octave F2 (88Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  It has lots of vibrant energy and is capable of producing the sought-after OM sound. The rim note changes to a fifth octave G5 (790Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This antique bowl shows signs of long use including some crazing to the outer wall commonly found on older bowls, and the original decorative circles and collar bands have been worn away with the passage of time.  There is also a stain inside that might come out, but it is otherwise structurally sound and clean with attractive hammer markings and a golden bronze colour.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
