Antique Jambati Singing Bowl.   Notes: A2 & Bb2 (Third Eye & Crown Chakras)

Weight 5 lb 3 ¼ oz. (2.36 kilos).   Size 31 x 14 cm (12 x 5 ½ inches)

This magnificent large deep-bodied 12” Antique Jambati Singing Bowl dates from the 19th century.  It has been beautifully crafted with finely beaten walls of an even thickness and a triangulated lip.  There are circles at its centre and incised bands forming a decorative collar around the rim.  It has a particularly lovely deep-bodied shape and is relatively light for its large size and therefore quite comfortable to hold and play for an extended period if required.

The beautiful low fundamental note is on the cusp of A2 (113Hz) and Bb2 (114Hz) and subtly flickers between the two when struck with a padded mallet.  The played rim note is virtually the same, but with a tendency for the Bb2 to slightly dominate.  It has a fabulous pulsating sustain.  The powerful low vibrant energy of this bowl will also produce fountains when played with a little water inside.

This is an older bowl with an aged patina and an outer surface that is now sensually smooth after long use.  It is in excellent structural condition, virtually free of stains, and has an antique bronze colour.

A Tibetan silk brocade cushion, a padded striker, and 2 ringers are included in the price.
