Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes C#3 & G5 (Root & Throat Chakras)

Weight 2.28 kilos (5 lb 0 ½ oz).  Size 26.5 x 11 cm (10 ¼ x 4 ¼ inches)

This large early 19th Century Jambati Singing Bowl has an excellent third octave C#3 fundamental (136Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave G5 (766Hz) with a wooden ringer.

It is a very substantial and heavy bowl with a low centre of gravity due to its wide base and the wall being a little lower than normal.  This has the effect of making the bowl appear even wider and larger than it is.  It has a flat bottom, a gracefully curved wall, and a sheared lip.  There are two sets of decorative circles at its centre and several incised bands form a collar around the outer rim.

This Jambati has attractive hammer markings on the outside wall, with a little aged crazing that is commonly found on older bowls.   It is structurally sound and stain-free, and has a lovely golden bronze colour.  The bright shiny interior is a particularly nice feature.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, padded striker, and teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.

Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede runger then wood)
