Antique Jambati Singing Bowl.   Notes: A2 & Eb4 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)

Weight 6 lb 14 oz. (3.12 kilos).   Size 31 x 18 cm (12 ¼ x 7 inches)

This is an exceptionally heavy (3.12 kilos) and large (12 ¼ ”) Antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a perfect pitch second octave A fundamental (110Hz) with a long throbbing pulse when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  Playing around the rim will also produce the middle Eb (319Hz) harmonic if desired.  It has an imposing physical presence and is best placed on a mat or cushion for playing because of its sheer size and weight.

This very substantial bowl’s thick walls and flat bottom would have been difficult to forge.  It has fine hammer markings and a sheered lip with decorative bands forming a collar around the outer rim, and there are circles at its centre.  It is structurally sound, clean, and has an attracive bright golden bronze color.

Antique bowls of this size and weight are now extremly hard to come by at source, leaving many practicioners with little choice but to buy new if they want low second octave notes, but nothing can compare with the character and resonant tones of a genuine antique.

A padded striker and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

Listen: (2 struck notes and 1 played note)
